what anna says on rahul gandhi's proposal

Rahul proposal workable, but shouldn't delay bill
Social activist Anna Hazare's team on Wednesday supported Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's suggestion to give a constitutional status to the Lokpal with riders. Magsaysay award winner, Arvind Kejriwal, a prominent member of Team Anna, said the strategy for the next phase of the agitation
will be decided in the crore committee meeting to held at Hazare's native Ralegaon Siddhi on September
10-11. Excerpts from the interview:
How do you react to Rahul Gandhi's suggestion on giving Lokpal constitutional status?
We have no problem with it and we are okay with the idea, provided it does not lead to any delay in passing the bill, and the Lokpal Bill does not fall through in Parliament for want of numbers. Since such a status will require a constitutional amendment, for which two-thirds majority in both Houses will be needed.

Stating that the recent anti-graft campaign against the government by civil society activists was just the beginning of a long and hard struggle, veteran activist Anna Hazare on Friday told about 7,000 supporters in his hometown of Ralegan Siddhi that his victorious fast of 12-days in Delhi was a victory of the people."I am concerned about the country’s future. This is just a beginning. We have a long way to go. It will take another 10 to 15 years before we eradicate corruption from the system for which we should be prepared to go to jail," Hazare said."It’s not enough to say I am Anna, one has to change their character. I believe even if a little change can be done, it’s always good," he added.Further calling the youth the real heroes of the nation, Hazare said that the general public is being looted and it was time to sow seeds of change."Despite 64 years of independence from the British rule, nothing has changed in the country. The whites have been replaced by black. Loot, corruption and terrorism is rampant," he said."One seed of change will lead to thousands of seeds of change. Every young Indian must sow one seed of change. Some of us have to sacrifice to ensure benefit for future generation," he added. He also said that India must walk on the principles of B.R. Ambedkar to bring religion equality and narrow down economic disparities.

Ralegan dances to patriotic numbers

Victory flags were put up in almost every house in Anna Hazare’s village Ralegan Siddhi where celebrations erupted as the 74-year-old activist broke his 12-day fast at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday.

As Anna broke his fast, thousands assembled to celebrate. “Today is an Independence Day. We have won the second freedom struggle today,” said Subhash Pathare, a school teacher.

Sarpanch Jaisinghrao Mapari added, “We are celebrating a successful revolution. We were not there when Gandhiji fought for our country’s freedom struggle. But we have experienced it while working in this second freedom struggle with this Gandhi of our times.”

Anna Hazare on Thursday returned to his native village of Ralegaon Siddhi in Maharashtra after being discharged from Gurgaon's Medanta Medicity hospital the previous evening.
But Hazare's plans to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with his family and the villagers took a hit. He was feeling unwell and cancelled all his public appointments.
Hazare had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday after he broke his 12-day fast in support of a strong Lokpal. There are questions over whether he left hospital on the advice of doctors.
